George T. Whittaker

George Taylor Whittaker, age 93, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Circleville on October 24, 2015. He was born October 7, 1922 in Clarion, Utah to James Lorenzo and Christena Sophia Anderson Whittaker. He married Mona Lou Washburn, March 9, 1947. The marriage was solemnized May 29, 1965 in the St. George Temple. She preceded him in death July 17, 2003. He married Debora Anderson, January 25, 2011.
George was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army 84 th Division in the Battle of the Bulge. He was the commander of the V.F.W. Piute Post #7561 for 14 years. He loved hunting, fishing, taking long nature rides, dancing, telling tall tales, and life itself.
He is survived by his wife Debora; children: Georgia Lou Short, Carol Lynn (Carl) Hooker, Rebecca Lois (Shane) Robinson; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson; sisters: Arda Beth Karren, Joy Davis, and Nedra (Wallace) Norton; step-children: Stephanie (Gary) Wood, Amy (Chris) Rettig and David Miller.
He is also preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Donna Greene and Francis Anderson; and brother, Jimmy.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 12:00 Noon in the Circleville LDS Chapel, 195 West 200 South. Friends may call at the ward chapel in Circleville on Wednesday evening from 6-8 or on Thursday morning from 10:00-11:30. Interment will be in the Circleville Cemetery with military honors by the V.F.W Piute Post #7561 and the Utah Honor Guard. Funeral Directors, Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
