George Nolen Westlund, 87 of Centerfield, Utah, passed away June 25, 2016, at his home in Centerfield surrounded by his family. He was born February 17, 1929, in Centerfield, Utah, to Carl Alfred and Elodie Christabell Sorensen Westlund. He married JoAnn Elfia Keisel, June 23, 1953, in Ely, Nevada. The marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, April of 1977.
George was an expert builder. He worked on several homes, churches, motels and other buildings. He loved the mountains and was very devoted to his family. George always said he wanted to be buried in "Hazes’s Wash", but JoAnn said that wasn’t going to happen.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn of Centerfield; children: Gary Lee (Marlene) Westlund, Mt. Pleasant; Lorna J. (Rusty) Campbell, Centerfield; Blaine K. (Mary) Westlund, Hurricane; RLynn (Lemikki) Westlund, Provo; Guy G. (Christie) Westlund, Centerfield; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters: Ardis (George Q.) Cannon, St. George; Zella (Dick) Elston, Washington; brothers: Lloyd (Uleda) Westlund, Centerfield; LeRoy Westlund, Gunnison.
Preceded in death by his parents; infant children: Bob Nolen Westlund, Julie K. Westlund, Grant D. Westlund; brothers and sisters: Marlow Westlund, Dean Westlund, Lear Westlund.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Centerfield 2 nd LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the ward chapel on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Centerfield Cemetery with military rites by the Oliver Russell American Legion Post #105. Funeral Directors, Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
