George Fred Piep, 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Mayfield on July 12, 2015. He was born September 16, 1948 in Salt Lake City to George W. and Dorothy Piep. He married Janet Strasburg on February 3, 1966 and raised six wonderful children.
George worked at the Central Utah Correctional Facility for 20 years and retired in 2009. After retiring he spent his days with family and friends. He loved and was deeply devoted to his family. He enjoyed doing leatherwork, and anything he could do with his hands.
He is survived by his endearing wife Janet, Mayfield; his children: Jeff (Lynette) Piep, Vernal; Kelly Piep, Elko, Nevada; Cory (Kristy) Piep, Redmond; Chontae (Ryan) Thompson, Gunnison; Chantil Worthen, Richfield; and Jordan Piep, Mayfield; 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; one brother, seven sisters.
He is preceded in death by his parents; in-laws: Ray & Clairce Strasburg; brother-in-law, Wayne Branting, sisters-in-law: Nan Haney, Rhonda Barrett.
Spiritual services will be held on July 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Kingdom Hall, 650 East 300 South, Mt. Pleasant. Additional memorial services will be held later that evening in the Mayfield City Building at 6:00 p.m. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. prior to services.
