George Masiel Jolley, 89, of Antimony, Utah, passed away February 22, 2016 in Panguitch, Utah. He was born May 2, 1926, in Panguitch, Utah, to Masiel and Mary Whitehead Jolley. He married Leda Gwen Allen, they were later divorced. He married Bernice Renee Osborn, December 5, 1981 in Antimony. The marriage was solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple.
George was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Pacific Theater WW II. He graduated with a masters degree in teaching. George was an educator where he taught elementary, high school and college students. He loved outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and being in the mountains with his family. George ran cattle on the Monroe Mountain and always had a large garden every year. He also served in many civic positions. George was an ordinance worker in the St. George Temple for over 20 years.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Jolley, Antimony; children: Gloria (Kirk) Evans, Logandale, NV; Lanita (Jim) Tullis, New Castle; Sharon Stewart, CA: Marlene (Dan) Winget, Monroe; Brian Jolley, Joseph; Julie Johnson, Hurricane; 47 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings: Ted Jolley, Pattie (LaMaun) Sorensen, Jill Anderson, Renee (Phil) Petersen, Mona (DeVon) Anderson, Eva (Ralph) Bassett, Shirley VanAusdal, Tamara (Steve) Kimball.
Preceded in death by parents; son, Robert Jolley; grandson, Matthew Lyon; great-granddaughter, Morgan Lyon; siblings: Corrine (Don) Applegate, Kay (Jean) Jolley; sister-in-law, Karma Jolley; brothers-in-law: Gary Romine, John Van Ausdal.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Antimony LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m and at the ward chapel in Antimony on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Antimony Cemetery with military rites by the VFW Piute Post #7561 and Honor Guard. Funeral Directors, Magleby Mortuary Richfield, Salina and Manti.
