Geoffrey R. Brugger
Venice, Utah
Geoffrey Raphael Brugger, 73, passed away the evening of March 24, 2017, at his home in Venice, with his son Geoffrey, and his brother Bill at his side. He was born October 9, 1943 in Richfield Utah to Raphael and Julia Smith Brugger.
For 43 years Geoff was a senior dean at the Salt Lake Community College. During this time he was instrumental in the creation of the Larry Miller Business Center. Education was so important to Geoff that he went on to help build schools worldwide. He embraced the different cultures and people. Geoffrey received many honors and awards, one of which was the Martin Luther King medal for humanitarian work and his contribution to education. He touched thousands of lives through his travels.
Most important, he was a father, brother, uncle, and friend. Geoffrey was one of the most intelligent, complex, talented, people we will ever know. He was so many things to many people: teacher, mentor, builder of schools, world traveler, star and sky reader, musician and composer. He had such a tremendous love of art and music, and if you were lucky enough to hear him play the piano, you would have been mesmerized. He could play ragtime to gospel to classical and then blues in a blink of an eye. Man oh man he could make those piano keys dance.
Geoffrey loved nature from the mountains to the desert, the canyons to the meadows, the lakes, rivers, oceans, and all the living things therein. He was a bird whisperer.
We love and will miss you greatly Geoffrey R. Brugger! This world has lost a great soul.
Survivors include his sons: Geoffrey and David; daughter, Tami; brothers: Bill and Michael; sisters: Julie Lynn and Kristine; many nephews and nieces; with love and gratitude towards Carol and Jana Brugger. He was preceded in death by his son Zachary, and parents.
Cremation services have taken place. Memorial services will take place at a later date. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
