Gene Reed

Our wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, brother and friend Howard Eugene "Gene" Reed, 76, passed away peacefully with his family surrounding him on March 31, 2017 in Gunnison, Utah. He was born March 27, 1941 to Glen W. and Marie H. Reed in Challis, Idaho. Gene grew up with two brothers, Billy Joe and Thomas and between the three of them there are many memories and stories. Gene was a 1959 graduate of Challis High School.
In 1961, Gene started his career with the Challis Forest Service. This job eventually took him to Escalante, Utah as a project engineer working on the North Creek Road construction. Escalante is where he met the love of his life, Renon Roundy. They were married on February 16, 1963 and sealed in the St. George Temple for time and all eternity on December 27, 1963. They spent 54 great years together.
Gene transferred to the Bureau of Land Management in the Richfield District in 1974. He retired from the government after 37 years.
Gene and Renon were blessed with 3 daughters, Suzanne, Diane, and Joann. They raised their family in Monroe, Utah. They loved and cherished every minute with their daughters - bowling, fishing, camping, hunting, and just spending time together. In 1984, they moved to Richfield making this their final home.
