    Gene V Julander 97, our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, passed away October 20, 2023 in Richfield.  He was born July 15, 1926 in Monroe to Virgil and Blanche Sophia Johnson Julander. 
    He was fun loving but hard working, Gene was a friend to all and stood strong for what was right.  He left school during his senior year to enlist in the US Navy during WWII and served as a gunner throughout his deployment.  After the war he married Vonda Bly Hunt, the love of his life, on September 5, 1947 in Fredonia, Arizona.  The marriage was solemnized in the Manti Utah Temple, July 20, 1960.  She preceded him in death December 27, 2015.    
    He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he has served faithfully in many callings.  He and his wife also have served as missionaries at Cove Fort and ordinance workers in the Manti Temple.
    He worked many years with Mountain Bell as a telephone repairman.  He and Vonda enjoyed their cabin and spending time making memories with their family.  
    He is survived by his children: Linda Kay Hunt and Larry Julander both of Richfield; Tammy Lynn (Duane) Schneider, Santa Maria CA; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Glenna Hansen,Monroe; Sherron Julander, AZ; Allan (Tharis) Julander, Kaysville.  
    In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a son-in-law: Bardell Hunt; great-grandson: Tyson Ogden; great-great-grandson: Kimpsen Jensen; sister: Virginia Schoenfeld; brothers-in law: Kenneth Schoenfeld, Evan Hansen; sister-in-law, Artie Julander.
    Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Richfield 15th Ward Chapel, 200 East Center.  Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield on Thursday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. or at the ward chapel on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.  Burial with military honors will be in the Monroe City Cemetery.
