Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Gaylen I. Rappleye, 82, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014 in Richfield, from complications of surgery. Gaylen was born March 12, 1931 in Marysvale, to William Vernon and Sarah Ina Ingram Rappleye. He married his sweetheart, Nahna Farnsworth, on September 19, 1952 in Richfield. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. They were blessed with three children: Kim, Kirk and Joan.
Gaylen lived most of his life in Richfield. He was a quiet, gentle man, who loved his family more than anything else. Spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing with his friends and family were some of his favorite things to do. He loved animals – cows, pigs, horses, and especially dogs. He taught all of his family the value and love of working through his own example.
He spent many early years of his career driving truck and was driver of the year for Wycoff in 1975. He then worked for 16 years for the Sevier County Road Department and the last few years before retirement he was the department supervisor. He was a member of the first Richfield Auxiliary Police Department. He loved coaching the youth basketball programs for his sons and then for his grandsons. Gaylen was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings. He and his wife, Nahna, served a local two-year service mission.
