Gary Farlund Nielson, 79, passed away at his home in Sevier on February 5, 2018 after a long illness. He was born April 14, 1938 in Gunnison to Farlund and Camille Rosenvall Nielson.

Gary enjoyed working on the farm with his dad. He also enjoyed riding his horse and being in the great outdoors. He loved going for long weekend rides and square dancing.

He married Marie Sorensen on March 1, 1958 in Gunnison. They had two children: Robert Gary and Janet. They later divorced. He then married Jackie Blythe on June 18, 1983 in Gunnison, he was blessed to help raise Jackie’s two children: Shevelle and Joe.

Gary worked for Utah Department of Transportation for 27 years and really enjoyed his job.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie; children: Bob Nielson, Janet (Wayne) Aiken; step-children: Shevelle (John) Peterson, Joe (Marcyne) Blythe; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Jan Nielson; sister, Carol (Kirk) Harding.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Lynn (Douglas) Larsen.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Joseph Ward Chapel in Elsinore. Friends may call for viewings Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield and Friday at the ward chapel in Elsinore from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
