Our hero, Garth Rulon Mickelson, 89, passed away July 7, 2015 in Richfield. He was born March 21, 1926 in Manti to Rulon Spencer and Jessie Chapman Mickelson. He married Lola Bertha Anderson in the Manti Utah Temple, November 25, 1946. She preceded him in death June 22, 2012.

Garth proudly served his country during WWII in the Navy, serving in the Pacific. He was employed 38 years with UDOT and retired as an Encroachment Officer.

He was an active member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many callings, he was one of the seven presidents of the Richfield Stake’s Seventies Quorum. He sat on many ward executive councils and most recently enjoyed his calling as ward greeter in the 15 ^th Ward.

Garth’s family was important to him and he enjoyed being with them in their activities. He enjoyed working in his shop and driving his tractor and 4-wheeler.

He is survived by children: Stephanie M. (Richard Darrell) Kitchen, Roswell, NM; Steven Garth (Kathy N.) Mickelson, Mitzi M. Snow, and Gregory R. Mickelson, all of Richfield; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; siblings, Merrill C. (Charlene R.) Mickelson, Kanab; Arlene M. (Lloyd V.) Smith, Manti; Elliot S. (Zola C.) Mickelson, West Valley City.

The family would like to thank Dr. Crimin, the Sevier Valley Medical Center, Richfield Care Center, and the Huntsman Cancer Institute for their loving care of our father.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Richfield 15 ^th LDS Ward Chapel, 200 East Center. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield on Friday evening from 6 to 8 or at the ward chapel on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery with military rites by the V.F.W.
