Garfield Lester James, 75, of Marysvale, Utah, passed away December 26, 2012, in Provo, Utah. He was born June 9, 1937, in Salina, Utah, to Lester Garfield and LaPreal Blackwell James. He married Lalia Norton, June 20, 1958, in Marysvale, Utah. The marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, June 14, 1975.
Garfield worked at the Kimberly and Deer Trail Mines, Piute County road maintenance and retired from UDOT. He enjoyed hunting, camping and pinenut picking with his family. Garfield loved riding his horse "Snip" in the mountains around his home. His favorite place in the mountains was Blithos and Beaver Creek.
He is survived by his wife, Lalia, Marysvale; children, Tamra (Alan) Wood, Minersville; Rachelle (Eric) Woolsey, Cedar City; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way; sisters, Geraldine Stocks, South Jordan; Mary (Dwain) Cropper, Sandy; Pamela (Clark) Jones, Sandy.
Preceded in death by parents; brother-in-law, Mac Stocks.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Marysvale LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the ward chapel in Marysvale on Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Marysvale Cemetery. Funeral directors, Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
