Gail L. Alder

Gail L Alder, 85, passed away February 10, 2012 from natural causes in Las Vegas, Nevada. Gail was born November 18, 1926 in Manti to Leonard and Reba Braithwaite Alder. Gail was baptized as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints May 19, 1934. He married the love of his life, Rhea Jensen on January 9, 1945 in Axtell. They have spent the past 67 years happily married, setting a wonderful example to all of us about marriage and commitment.
Gail had a great love of service. It started early in his life serving as class president in high school 1939-1941. He really loved his time serving as member and president of the Moose Lodge of Ely, as a city councilman in Ely, Nevada 1975-1979 and chair of the White Pine County Council of Governments. He was also appointed to the Governing Board of Condominiums of Quail Estates in 1996 where they reside.
Gail spent his career with Kennecott Copper as a senior buyer where he retired in 1985 with 31 years.
Gail loved his friends and family. He loved his time growing up in Manti with his cousins, aunts, uncles, and so many friends. He loved to tell so many stories about their time together. Gail and Rhea loved to travel with friends Bud and Beth. With camper and boat in tow, they would spend a week at Fish Lake, Lake Powell and the many other places where they played and fished. In 1996 they moved to Las Vegas. He loved the mornings with coffee, friends and conversation at their place in Las Vegas. He looked forward to spending time with and getting to know his grandchildren. He watched many baseball games and dance recitals. He loved each of them and was so proud of the amazing people they are. Gail loved his extended family. He always had so many fond memories to share about time spent with them.
Gail is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rhea J. Alder; two children and their spouses Pauline (Clyde) Kuder, West Jordan; Barbara (Vince) O’Keefe, Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren: Tami (Greg) Evans, Brandon (Thamsin) Kuder, Aubree O’Keefe, James O’Keefe; five great-grandchildren: Matthew, Austin, Zachary, and Aiden Evans, and Sophia Kuder.
