Virginia "Gae" Carter, age 81, died peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2015, in her home in Sigurd. She was born in Sigurd on December 30, 1933 to Glen R. and Jennie Snedeger Sampson. Gae married Burton Leon Carter on August 25, 1948 and together they raised 3 children, who in turn gave them 10 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren. Leon preceded her in death November 13, 2007.
Gae was born and raised and lived most of her life in Sigurd. She was dedicated to her family and friends and displayed a fierce loyalty to all those who were blessed to be a part of her life
She created a home where family and friends loved to visit and laugh. Gae also spent much time at her second home, her cabin on Monroe Mountain, where family were always invited and Gae ensured that everyone was cared for and welcome. She cherished her role as Aunt Gae, Grandma C. and Mama C. to family, grand and great grandchildren. She often shook her finger and laughed while saying "We will have love in this family, if I have to beat it into you!" Gae always ended every conversation with her little loved ones by saying "I love youeee, youeee, youee" and expressed her love for family in every phone call, visit, and card. Gae's memory and legacy will go on.
She is survived by her three sons and their families: Ray (Vicki) Carter, Glendale; Ron (Barb) Carter, Salt Lake City; and Rod Carter, St. George; brothers: Dick Sampson, Aurora; and Bill (Marianne) Sampson, Las Vegas, NV; grand and great-grandchildren. Gae is preceded in death by a sister and two brothers: Delores (Don) Spencer, Rex Sampson, and Rick Sampson; daughter-in-law, Gerri Carter.
Funeral services will be held on Monday July 6, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel. Where friends may call on Monday from 9:00 to 9:45. Burial will be in Sigurd Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
