Evelyn Brown Bagley, 81, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, peacefully returned to her heavenly home on February 4, 2014, in Mapleton, surrounded by members of her family. Evelyn was born September 12, 1932, in Bicknell, to Alburn and Ellen Brown. She graduated from Duchesne High School, and later, while home for the holidays, met her eternal sweetheart, Garth Bagley, at a Christmas evening dance where Evelyn's father played in the band. She and Garth were married on May 1, 1953, in the Manti Temple, and one of the genuine, fairy-tale, they-lived-happily-ever-after marriages blissfully commenced. He preceded her in death December 27, 2001.

If there was one word that would be associated with Evelyn, that word would be "service." Her life personified service from the moment she awoke each day until the moment she lay down at night. Evelyn and Garth raised 10 children on the family farm, and with homemade meals to cook each day, mountains of laundry to wash, fold, and iron, and the numerous demands that a child has, her life was dedicated to seeing that her family had everything they needed. Long after everyone retired for the evening, Evelyn would be washing one more load of clothes, ironing one more shirt, baking one more loaf of bread. And if that wasn't enough, Evelyn would make various baked goods and deliver them to the folks of Grass Valley whom she felt needed a little love. It was miraculous the love she could bake into one of her famous sugar cookies. Her husband made the comment on several occasions that it would take several big trucks to haul all of the baked goods Evelyn delivered in the valley through the years. Her life truly fit the principle that "the noblest aim in life is to strive to make other lives better and happier."

Evelyn loved being with her family, watching their happiness, their growth, and their accomplishments. She was happy when her children were happy. She also cherished the hours she and Garth would bale hay at night in the farm's first cabbed tractor (she called those nights "date nights"), growing gardens the size of Rhode Island, and dancing with her sweetheart on Christmas Day, showing the children what real dancing looked like.

Evelyn was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous capacities in the Koosharem Ward. She devoted her selfless love and compassion to the Relief Society, the Primary, and the Young Women's programs serving as president, counselor, and teacher.

She is survived by her 10 children: David (Jennifer) Bagley, Murray; Gary (Julie) Bagley, Orem; Mark (Nelcy) Bagley, Pleasant Grove; Scott (Melissa) Bagley, Koosharem; Camille (Tom) Swartzmiller, Kingston; Greg (Marja) Bagley, Logan; Stephanie (Eric) Pedersen, St. George; Michelle (Lance) Black, Mapleton; Michael (Mandy) Bagley, Denver; and Lori (Marvin) John, Kaysville; 43 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters: Adona, Lew, Beverly; brothers: Cleon, Vanor, and Valoy.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Deon; and sisters, Maxine and Darlene.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014, at 12:00 Noon in the Koosharem Ward Chapel. Family and friends may call Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Magleby Mortuary, 50 S. 100 W., Richfield, and at the ward chapel in Koosharem Saturday from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Koosharem Cemetery.
