Ethel Dimick
Monroe, Utah
Ethel Joey Dimick, 83, passed away in the early morning of April 5, 2024 at her home in Monroe with her loving husband at her side. Ethel was born in Nephi, on July 5, 1940 to Honoras Higley and Marjorie Olpin Ralphs at the home of her grandmother, Joey Olpin.
Ethel was raised in various parts of Oregon as her father worked for the Federal Government and was transferred several times. They finally settled in Aumsville, Oregon where Ethel attended grade school and graduated from high school. She was active in high school sports and was the Salutatorian of her graduating class. She attended Brigham Young University where she met her husband to be on a blind date. Ethel married Franklin Edward Dimick on June 3, 1960 in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Ethel and Frank raised three wonderful children, Franklin Edward Jr., Roger Kent and Marjorie Marie. These were the pride and joy of her life. She never had to work outside the home so was able to spend lots of time laughing, playing and teaching these three souls. Ethel did a lot of volunteer service work. She served in the nurses’ office of the kids’ elementary school and then became an aide in the metal shop of the alternate education section of the high school. She was instrumental in helping kids with problems gain an education and graduate from high school.
Her grandchildren were the delight of her life. She reveled in having them around her to love and spoil. Taking them on family trips was a sparkle in her life and she was instrumental in making sure that each grandchild had the opportunity to accompany her and Frank on a visit to a foreign country. She even wanted to celebrate her 50th wedding anniversary by taking her children and grandchildren on a cruise to Alaska. Her love for her children and grandchildren had no bounds.
One of Ethel’s greatest attributes was to be able to meet and talk with anyone in any place. She used that attribute to gain friends around the world as she traveled with her husband to many different countries. That attribute also helped her to serve a mission with her husband to Sylacauga, Alabama.
Ethel was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life, serving in many various callings. She taught herself enough German language to extract information from microfilmed German records for use in the Family Search database. Serving as a worker in three different temples for over 12 years was a special opportunity for her. After she and her husband “retired” to their new home in Monroe, she served an 18-month mission in the Monroe, Utah Records Operation Center extracting information from various records to be included in the Family Search database. She did all of this while faithfully supporting her husband in his business and church activities which, on occasion, required him to be absent from their home for several months. She was one special, wonderful and loving person as anyone who met her would know.
Ethel is survived by her husband, Frank; her children, Franklin Edward Dimick Jr., Roger Kent Dimick and Marjorie Marie (Billy) Hansen; her six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers: Lloyd (Harriet) Ralphs and Allen (Sandra) Ralphs.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
