Esther Dawson Middleton Barney, 92, passed away October 28, 2015 in Beaver, Utah, surrounded by her family. She was born April 1, 1923 in Winter Quarters, Carbon County, Utah to Robert Alderson and Esther Quilter Middleton. She married Elliot Miles Barney, September 26, 1941 in the Manti Utah Temple. He preceded her in death August 5, 2009. Their lives together has been a true love story. In life, they were one.

Esther loved her family and being with them. She and Miles square danced all over the country. She taught her children and grandchildren to love the simplest things. She made hundreds of quilts for family and friends. She loved to cook, made excellent bread and was known for her donuts. She canned many family favorites; jams, jellies, sauces, etc. She was a secretary at the Ashman Elementary School, she worked in school lunch and senior citizens for many years. She was a great neighbor and defender of the underdog.

While Miles served in the military and served an LDS mission, Esther raised two wild boys by herself. They were later blessed with five more children.

She was an active member of the LDS Church where she served faithfully in each of her callings.

She is survived by her children: Ronald (Jan) Barney, Elliot (Lorrie) Barney, Janice Hatch, Connie (Russell) Dalton, Nancy (Randy) Houston, Karen (Ken) Christensen, Robert (Lynell) Barney; many grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Eliza Porter.

Preceded in death by, parents, son-in-law, Steven Hatch; grandson, Sam Houston; great-granddaughter, Landree Hatch; siblings, Robert Middleton, Elsie Goulding, Mary Ott, George Middleton.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 12:00 Noon in the Panguitch 1 st LDS Ward Chapel, 550 South 100 West, where friends may call on Friday evening from 6 to 8 or on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:30. Burial will be in the Panguitch Cemetery.

The family extends their appreciation to the loving staff at Beaver Long Term Care.
