Our loving father and husband, and a true patriot, Ernest (Ernie) Littlefield Henderson of Henrieville, Utah, passed away on January 15, 2015 in Salt Lake City, Utah surrounded by his wife of 57 years and his 6 loving children. He was born July 20, 1935 in Orem, Utah to LeRoy and Dora Littlefield Henderson. He married his sweetheart Wynona, in October, 1957; they were sealed in the Jordan River Temple November 1984.
Ernie and Wynona made their home in then Granger, Utah for 37 years, and raised their children there before moving to Henrieville. Their children are Dorsie (Kevin) Denny of Riverton, Dallas Henderson of Kearns, Wendy (Dan) Davis of Ephraim, Trish (Brian) Dixon of Riverton, Lynne Granger of Sandy, and Mitch (Pam) Henderson of St. George, 18 grandkids and 13 great-grandkids. He was preceded in death by his brothers Junior, Eddie, and Earl, his sister LaNell, and his granddaughter Dani. He is survived by his sister Joan (Doyle) Jackson, Harrisville.
He played basketball for Provo High, then went on to serve as a medic in the US Army in Germany. He retired from Kennecott after 23 years, and was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings He was president of the local Lion’s Club, interim mayor of Henrieville, and on the town board. He volunteered to drive the senior citizens van of Bryce Valley for a number of years.
His love of country came from his pride in his father and brothers who all served in the military.
Funeral services will be held at the Henrieville, Utah LDS church at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, January 24, 2015. Friendsd may call Thursday, January 22, from 6-8 p.m. at the Riverton LDS Church, 12345 S. 2700 W., and Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Henrieville Church. Interment at the Cannonville, Utah Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
