Emily Caroline Braithwaite

Manti, UT

Emily Caroline Braithwaite, 34, of Manti passed away on April 15, 2015. She was sent from heaven on November 7, 1980 to the loving arms of Jim and Kallene Braithwaite. Her big brother Jimi and sister Amy were thrilled. She was beautiful and born with a big head, housing a brilliant brain, a head full of brown curly hair, and possessed an exceptionally tender heart.

She could snag a candy bar at the drug store and devour it under her Dad’s desk in the blink of an eye. She enjoyed watching sports for hours with her dad, especially the New York Yankees, and twirling around the kitchen in her dance costumes. She adored her amazing grandparents and worshiped her cousins. Emily attended Manti High School where she participated in Cheerleading, Softball and secret 2 am TopStop and Denny’s trips. Jim put all his girls to work at the ripe old age of 10 at Elliott’s Pharmacy; taking out the trash, sweeping the flower shop and dusting all of the trinkets.

Emily was an accomplished and talented pianist, and an attendant to Miss Manti and 1 st Attendant to Miss Sanpete. She graduated from Snow College and the University of Utah. She worked at Pollie’s, Kent’s Pharmacy, the office of Dr. John Braithwaite, Macy’s, Express and Salt Lake School District.

Emily left her life in Salt Lake to come home and help care for her dad. A highlight in her life was coaching the Manti High School cheerleaders for two years. Each year, twenty-four talented cheerleaders became her "kids". Emily also served on the Miss Sanpete board and found great joy in mentoring young people in the community.

Emily bravely battled Lupus and Fibromyalgia for 13 years; undergoing numerous treatments and visits to doctors. Her hero’s were her dad, Jim; brother, Jimi; uncle, Tom; and Jesus Christ. She loved traveling, literature, music, movies, the NY Yankees, Utah Utes, Manti Templars and spending hours in Nordstrom with her sisters. The love and bond that she shared with her family was truly unbreakable and will last throughout eternity. She had a great love of the Gospel and the Temple and was a true disciple of Jesus Christ.

Emily is survived by her mother, Kallene Braithwaite; sisters, Amy (Grayson) Gearin, Kami (Eddie) Morales and Ashlee (Nate) Dye. She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Braithwaite; brother, Jimi Braithwaite; grandparents, Ray & Emma Lou Keller and Elliot & Carol Braithwaite; uncle, Art Willardsen; aunt, Pam Keller
