Elva "Jan" Liston

Elva Mae "Jan" Sevy Goulding Liston, 92, passed away April 16, 2017 in St. George. She was born August 22, 1923 in Panguitch to Peter Ray and Inez Lister Sevy. She married Reed Goulding in the St. George Temple. He preceded her in death. She married Stanley Frank Liston in Las Vegas. He preceded her in death.
Jan held numerous positions in the LDS Church. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She always planted huge gardens, including strawberries and raspberries and always had plenty to share with her family and the community. She volunteered her time and talents for numerous church and civic organizations.
Known for her magnificent pieced quilts, Jan wanted to make sure that each child, grandchild, niece, nephew, brother and sister had one of her "valued" quilts. She donated many of her quilts to various charities, churches, etc. She loved life and lived it to the "max".
To some she was mom; to others grandma; and to some "The Cookie Grandma". She loved and respected everyone. She will be missed.
Jan is survived by her daughter: Janet "Bunny" Young, LaVerkin; step-children: Lana (Don) Lord, Lindon; Lois Houston, West Jordan; grandchildren: Jeff, Melissa, Scott and Jennier; siblings: Max Sevy, Panguitch; Ruth Shakespear, Overton, NV; Keith (Lori) Sevy, CA; Peggie (Tom) Wight, SLC.
Also preceded in death by her parents; step-son, Brad Liston; siblings: Ken Sevy, Ike Sevy, Pat Sevy, Freeda Woodard, Alta Sevy, Jim Sevy; sister-in-law, Loa Sevy; brother-in-law, Wes Shakespear.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 12:00 Noon in the Henrieville Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
