Adelia Poulson
Richfield, Utah
Elsie Adelia Hooper Poulson, 91, passed peacefully from this life to the next on October 5, 2018 in Lindon. Adelia’s journey began January 6, 1927 in Annabella, Utah, where she was raised by her parents William R Hooper and Vida May Brown. Adelia attended South Sevier High School where she graduated in 1945, before going on to attend Brigham Young Academy in Provo, Utah.
Before leaving Richfield, Adelia caught the eye of DeVon Poulson, who quickly became the love of her life. Adelia returned to Richfield and the two married on September 18, 1946. They enjoyed an incredible 71 years together. They lived shortly in Modesto, California; Layton, Utah; St George, Utah; and over 60 years in Richfield, Utah where they raised their family together. Most summers were spent in Fishlake, Utah where many reunions were held and memories made with the family.
Adelia sacrificed and dedicated her life to her family, to serving others, and the Church. Devon and Adelia were sealed in the Manti, Utah Temple, and remained very active in every ward they attended. Together they served 6 full time missions: Nauvoo, Illinois; Tongatapu, Tonga; Washington D.C.; Chicago, Illinois; Cove Fort, Utah; and Mesa, Arizona. They also served as ordinance workers for over 14 years in the Manti, Utah and St George, Utah Temples.
Adelia was blessed with a long, full life that she was able to experience with those she loved. She was the perfect example of frugality and gratitude, and the lessons she taught continue to shape her family. While her journey on earth has ended, her next adventure is just beginning with DeVon back at her side to continue their journey together.
Adelia is survived by her children: Kimball (Cindy) Poulson, Karey (Joy) Poulson, Kris (Sherri) Poulson, Kevin (Jennifer) Poulson, Kent (Kimberly) Poulson; son-in-law Woody Haycock; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; brother Richard Jay Hooper; and 1,240 glass dishes.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband; daughter, Helen Haycock; grandson, Brian Poulson, great-grandson, Frederick D Luekenga; and 5 siblings.
