Edna Washburn
Richfield, Utah
Edna Madsen Washburn, 89 passed away peacefully Sunday, May 1, 2016 in Provo Utah. She was born February 5, 1927 in Richfield to Earl and Nellie Christina Dickinson Madsen. She married the love of her life, Forrest Bryant Washburn on February 26, 1946 in the Manti LDS Temple. In February, with great joy they celebrated their marriage of 70 years.
Edna was loved by everyone who knew her. Her greatest joy was serving her family and friends. She raised her son Craig giving him all the love and attention as only a mother can do. She has shared that great capacity of love with everyone. In her later years, she shared a love of rocks with Bryant and together they traveled to Quartzite every winter to sell rocks. Through this experience, they developed many lifelong friends who became part of their extended family.
Edna also loved serving her community. She participated with Bryant to gather, prepare, and compile World War II experiences of Veterans in Southern Utah. This great task resulted in 3 beautiful books honoring these men and their sacrifices. Every spring the grade school classes from all over Sevier County were invited into their home to view their rock collection. Each student left with a small gift prepared by Edna. With her husband Bryant they donated an extensive rock collection to the children of Richfield, which is located in a local elementary school.
Edna was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved to dance, sew, make jewelry and most of all to give it all away! She had a talent of making others feel special and loved! She will be missed dearly!
Edna is survived by her loving husband Bryant; sister, Ora Dean Madsen Christensen; sister-in-law, JoAnn Madsen; and many loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Dee Atkinson; her beloved son, Craig Washburn; sister, Delaine Chappell; and brother, J Earl Madsen.
