Edna Jane Haynie

January 13, 1914 — February 18, 2014

Edna Jane Jensen Haynie, age 100, passed away quietly early Tuesday morning on February 18, 2014, at the Bee Hive Home in Washington, Utah. She was born on January 13, 1914, in Manassa, Colorado to Oliver Exile and Rosa Jane Sowards Jensen. She married Frederick Barthell Haynie, July 23, 1935 in the Logan LDS Temple and preceded her in death July 31, 1999.

Edna credited her long life to the 64 years of marriage to Fred B. Haynie, good health, clean living, hard work, always keeping busy, a positive attitude, many opportunities to serve others, the wonderful friends and neighbors in Richfield, the Richfield Culture Club, and her membership in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She also served several years as a Pink Lady at Sevier Valley Medical Center.

She attended the Brigham Young University and was occasionally a substitute teacher at schools in Richfield. Edna and Fred were active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a variety of callings in their ward. They were temple workers at the Manti Temple for 10 years. They also served a one year mission in the Philippines.

Survivors include her eldest son, Richard Lee (Rebecca) Haynie, her daughters, Marilyn Kaye (Mac) Nelson, Rose Marie (Gordon) Card, and daughter-in-law, Lori (Fred J.’s wife); half-sister, Karma (James) Claunch. She loved each of her 19 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death is her second son, Fred J. Haynie; granddaughters, Angela Gentry and Paige Nelson; siblings, Ray (Melba) Jensen, Deloris (Arlo) Brady, Vern (Barbara) Jensen.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Richfield 4th LDS Ward Chapel, 159 North 400 West. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield on Thursday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. or at the ward chapel on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery.
