Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, Duane Foster Nay, 88, passed away May 26, 2011in Richfield. Duane was born April 1, 1923 in San Pedro, California, to Fay Dermont and Ella Peterson Nay. He was the oldest of three boys. When he was five years old his family moved to Utah.

Duane and his brothers all joined the Navy during World War II. Duane married Beth Brown, July 21, 1943 in Monroe, while on leave from the Navy. After four years in the Navy he was discharged. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple in 1963.

Duane had perseverance and determination to support his family during hard times. He searched for employment at home but had to seek it elsewhere. He obtained employment at the Caterpillar Wheeler Machinery Company in Salt Lake City. In 1959 the company transferred him back to Sevier County and his first home in Monroe. Duane left the company to stay in Monroe. Duane started a sand and gravel business which helped to build the bridges west of Tropic, then later moved the plant to Bicknell and helped supply the product for the bridges in Capital Reef. He then started his own farm machinery business, later moving the business to Richfield which was known as Nay Equipment Company and became the biggest farm machinery business in Utah. He had the ability to see into the future and take a chance. He will always stand out as an icon in Sevier County.

Duane had great love for his family and his little "Dove", Beth. His sense of humor was a gift that made everyone smile. He entertained his family and friends playing his guitar and singing. The song he sang for the town of Monroe after returning from the war was "Little Green Valley". Duane held many positions in the LDS Church and also was mayor of Monroe. He will be missed by many.

Duane is survived by his loving wife, Beth, Richfield; children: Michael Duane (Wendie) Nay, Richfield; Marc Boyd (Nadine) Nay, Central Valley; Kris (Jeff) Conder, Sacramento, CA; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Virgil Nay.
