Doyle Harvey Neilson, 74, passed away suddenly after a short illness on August 22, 2014 in St. George, UT. He was born June 8, 1940 in Henrieville to James Varcel and Lula Mary Chynoweth Neilson. For 55 years, he has been married to the love of his life, Kathryn Sheppard, they married August 26, 1959 in Springville. The marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple.
He grew up in his beloved town of Henrieville and graduated from Bryce Valley High School. Doyle was a very hard worker and was a friend to everyone. He took a special interest and was very passionate about caring for the Henrieville Cemetery and respectful to its residents.
He worked in the timber industry before moving to Layton. There he worked in the construction field and also at Hill Air Force Base. While at Hill, he was in the Air Force Reserve and traveled the world, which was quite an experience for "a country" boy.
Doyle was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was a beloved Sunday school teacher and served faithfully where ever he was asked.
His survivors include his wife, Kathryn; children, James "Jim" Neilson, Kathy (Mike) Murphy, Steven (Sheila) Neilson, Scott Neilson; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren with one on the way; mother, Lula Moore; brothers, Darreld Neilson, Frank E. Moore. He is preceded in death by his father, James Varcel Neilson; brother, Cloyd Neilson and step-father, Frank Moore.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 12:00 Noon in the Henrieville LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 or on Friday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Henrieville Cemetery.
