Former resident of Monroe, Douglas Golden Meacham, 73, passed away in Pocatello, Idaho on July 1, 2012. He was born November 24, 1938, the oldest child of Golden Littlefield and Shirley Andreasen Meacham. He attended elementary school in Monroe before moving to Arco, Idaho where he graduated from Butte High School in 1957.
Douglas attended Brigham Young University and served a mission in the Eastern Atlantic States. He later joined the U. S. Army in 1965 eventually becoming a Major in the Green Berets.  His specialty was communications.  He continued his studies at various other universities as he moved around with the military, culminating in a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. After leaving the military in 1979, he worked for Green Thumb Utah and later, was a Counseling Psychologist at Utah State Prison.
In 1967, he married Kathy Carolyn Autrey.  They later divorced.
Doug married Susan Lawson Dotson in 2009 in Salt Lake City.
Doug was an avid reader and loved to collect books.  His library is very extensive. He also loved to cook.  He had a unique outlook on life and will be missed greatly.
He is survived by his wife, Susan, Pocatello; mother, Shirley Andreasen Meacham, Monroe; daughter, Laura (Brian) Blad, Pocatello; son, Geoffrey (Amy) Meacham, Raleigh, N.C.; brothers, Stan (Rita) Meacham, Pleasant Valley, Utah; Ken (Shari) Meacham, Menan, ID; sister, Jill (Mike) Miles, Monroe. Also surviving are grandchildren: Ben, Jade, Jordan, and Bryson Blad (Pocatello), Lucias and Ava Meacham (Raleigh, N.C.) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a sister, Carole Meacham.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Monroe 4th Ward, 49 East 200 North, where friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Monroe Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Monroe American Legion Post #37 and the Utah Honor Guard.
