Douglas D. Christensen
1934 - 2016
Our loving father, brother, grandpa, uncle and friend, Douglas DeWayne Christensen, Sr. 81, passed away May 31, 2016 in Richfield. He is now reunited with his loving wife, Mary. He was born July 21, 1934 in Richfield to Kenneth and Ruby Waters Christensen.
Soon after his honorable discharge from the military, he married his sweetheart, Mary Ellen Allred, January 12, 1957 in New Brunswick, N.J. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple July 10, 1996. She preceded him in death June 23, 2008.
Doug served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked in the copper mines in Mammoth, AZ. He drove truck and later was the manager at Richfield Distributing and Red Hills Distributing.
He and his family loved the outdoors and spending time together hunting, fishing, camping and riding their ATVs. He enjoyed the mountains and all the beauty they had to offer.
He is survived by his children: Carol "Honey" McIntosh, Sevier; Norma "Non" (Wayne) Washburn, Richfield; Sandy (Bart) Aaron, American Fork; Doug Jr.,"Fud" (Carol) Christensen, Glenwood; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren with one on the way; half-siblings, Carl (Glenna) Ames, Dan (Brenda) Ames; Darlene (Ardean) Wright, Della (Ray) Martell.
He is also preceded in death by parents; son-in-law, Bruce McIntosh; siblings, Kenneth (Colleen) Christensen, Ronald (Lena) Christensen.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Richfield 2nd & 10th Ward Chapel, 700 West 200 South. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary on Friday evening from 6 to 8 or at the ward chapel on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery with military rites by the Monroe American Legion Post #37 and the Utah Honor Guard.
