Dorothy "Dottie" Mauss

Formerly of Monroe

The world lost one of it's finest on January 9, 2016 just shy of her 95 th birthday. She died at home in the arms of each of her children as she peacefully gave way to the rigors of a tired heart. Dorothy Lundgreen Mauss was born in Monroe, Utah in a small adobe house on March 26, 1921. She was the first child of Eli Mathias and Manilla Brown Lundgreen. Though her adult life has been lived in Salt Lake City, she has always maintained a special fondness for Monroe. She married Kenneth Laurie Mauss in 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage until his passing in 2007. They were the loving parents of 4 children all of whom adore and cherish her: Laurel (Ron) Wendland, Dan (Maryanne) Mauss, Robyn (Gary) Beynon, Brad (Jennifer) Mauss.

Dottie graduated from BYU with a teaching certificate. Following her first job as a secretary with the Air Force Intelligence Deptment during World War II, she was hired as a stewardess with United Airlines. She enjoyed this job for five years until she married her sweetheart. After that, she was committed to raising her children which she did with skill and finesse. Later on in her life, she was a much beloved substitute school teacher. She also loved her service as a hostess at the Beehive House. Along with her husband, they served as missionaries at the LDS Conference Center for many years.

Dottie loved traveling with her family to many of her favorite destinations. Her Christmas Eve family gatherings were second to none . She was a fixture at "Curves" well into her 95 th year. Dottie is a woman who exuded class in her very being and in everything she did.
Devoted lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully in each of the myriad of callings that came her way right to the end.

Dorothy is survived by her 4 children, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two sisters: Mona and Janet; and two brothers: Hartley and Burns. Preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Cleo.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 15, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Olympus Hills Ward located on Adonis Dr. (4176 South) and Gary Rd. (3930 East). The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8 pm at Wasatch Lawn located at 3401 S. Highland Dr. SLC, Utah and then Friday one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Special thanks to Rachel, Sara and Libby for their loving care.
