Doradean Hendrickson

Richfield, Utah

Doradean Ogden Hendrickson, 94, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019 in Richfield. Born the youngest of 9 children on January 26, 1925, in Richfield, UT to Charles Lorenzo and Dora Ann Coons Ogden. On February 5, 1943, Doradean married her sweetheart and eternal companion, Kenneth P. Hendrickson, in the Manti Temple. He preceded her in death September 18, 2010.

Doradean grew up in Richfield and lived there her entire life. She worked on the farm with her family when she was young and when her father started the Ideal Dairy everything was done by hand. It was her job to wash the bottles in the kitchen sink and then after they were filled she would help to put the cardboard caps in the top of them.

Doradean met Kenneth when they were in the 7th grade. They dated through high school and were married during their senior year because they knew that Kenneth would be leaving in the military as soon as they graduated.

Doradean was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was always serving. She held many positions in Primary, Relief Society and as Young Women’s president (MIA). She was responsible for helping to start the Cub Scout program in the Richfield area and then train others who wanted their boys to be involved. She was a founding member and president of the Jr. Culture Club, book clubs, and has belonged to the Daughters of Utah Pioneers for many years.

Doradean’s testimony of the gospel was evident by the way she lived her life – she was a faithful example to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family meant everything to her.

Doradean is survived by her children: Dr. Raymond K. (Diane) Hendrickson, Glenwood; Hal (Kathleen) Hendrickson, Morgan Hill, CA; Cori (Don) Overson, Provo; Leon C. Hendrickson, West Jordan; Dr. Ivan K. (Martha) Hendrickson, Saint George; Holly (Todd) McAllister, Richfield; 28 grandchildren and 85 great-grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Reed, Lavar, Grant, Woodrow, Garth, and Homer Ogden; sisters: Shirley Nielsen and Helen Evans; and great-grandson, Joshua Gardener.
