Donald Jacobson
Richfield, Utah
Donald C. Jacobson, 90, passed away March 14, 2023, at his daughter’s home in California. He was born July 24, 1932, on Pioneer Day on Pioneer Street near Central Park in Logan. He was raised by hardworking, and loving parents, Hyrum, and Florence Harsh Jacobson.
He married Audrie Peterson, November 30, 1952. The marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple, December 5, 2003, after 51 years of marriage.
Don spent his youth in Logan where he learned skills in his father’s blacksmith/auto repair/and boat shop. He worked as a paperboy, and lifeguard. He was a competitive skier and swimmer in high school and at Utah State.
He met his wife at the drug store where she worked, and they were married a short time later. He served time in the army and worked in computers/satellites for the US government. They traveled the world living and/or visiting New York City, Southern California, Hawaii, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and finally retiring back to Utah in Richfield.
His interest in athletics continued throughout his lifetime. He loved skydiving, deep-sea diving/fishing (he owned a boat), water/snow skiing, motor cycling, dune buggy riding, and riding ATVs where he was involved in planning the Jamboree in Richfield for several years.
He was artistic and had many creative projects that beautified the surroundings of many.
Don’s activity in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints came late in his life. He learned the Gospel of Jesus Christ and with the help of his wife and ward members he experienced a spiritual renewal and gained a testimony. Due to the progression of Audrie’s Alzheimer’s, his activity became limited. He devoted 12 years of his life in her care until she passed away April 16, 2014.
He is survived by his children: Ann (Larry) Orr, Bakersfield, CA; Kyle (Kathi) Jacobson, Powell, WY; Machele (Gary) Gregory, Encinitas, CA; 16 grandchildren and 41 great- grandchildren.
