Don Rowley
Annabella, Utah
Don George Rowley, passed away at his home in Annabella on Friday, March 17, 2023, surrounded by loved ones and many EMTs who tried valiantly to save him. We are so grateful for their efforts. He was born December 9, 1945, in Fillmore to George Joshua and Myrtle Hunter Rowley. Don was the youngest of three children and grew up causing lots of mischief in Millard County. He married and divorced Peggy Stevens at a young age; they had 2 children: Janette and Jared. He later married the love of his life, Cindy Sherwin, in Monroe, September 11, 1976 and had 3 more children; George, Jason and Tyson. He was always a proud member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was happy when their marriage was solemnized in the Payson Utah Temple on June 13, 2017.
Don was drafted into the military to serve his country during the Korean War, where he strategically implemented and constructed the radio broadcasting system for the Army. He served one tour in Korea and returned home safely to his family in 1967. Don instilled a strong love of his country in his family and always took pride in his service.
Don was a certified master mechanic also known as the “Carborator King” who could fix anything and everything (mostly Fords ;). It was common for him to get a call daily from a friend or child for advice on how to fix something. He is best known to his family as the “master tinker”. It has been determined that if grandpa can’t fix it, it isn’t fixable. Don was a jack-of-all- trades who could literally fix anything from a broken heart to a blown motor. He had a strong love of reading, history and geography. He could tell you where any place was and how to get there. His joys in life include gold mining, rock hounding, hunting, serving his beloved community and loving his family fiercely. He was truly the glue that held the Rowley clan together.
Don is survived by his wife, Cindy; and children: Jared Rowley (Jessica), Janette Childers (Travis), George Rowley (Jorgina), Jason Rowley (Marki); 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tyson Rowley; grandson, Dale Nielsen; brother, Fred Rowley; sister Janette Rowley.
