Richard Louis “Dick” Jensen, 76, passed away peacefully with his loving wife, Jeanne and family by his side after a short, valiant battle with pancreatic cancer on Friday, April 13, 2012 in Richfield. Dick was born June 20, 1935 in Mt. Pleasant to Duane and Louise Ericksen Jensen.
Dick served in the United States Army at the tail end of the Korean War, 1956 – 1958 in Hawaii. From the time he was old enough for a driver’s license until 1999 Dick drove truck through the western states. His last 30 years of driving were for Winkel Distributing bringing Coors and candy from Denver, Colorado to Richfield.
Dick enjoyed the outdoors, especially shooting at targets with family and friends. He loved spending time at Acord Lake. He taught the value of stewardship, and most importantly spending time with family.
Dick married and divorced Pearl Aquino. From this marriage, Dick became dad to Bobby (Karen) Jensen-Romondo, Las Vegas, Nevada. Together, Dick and Pearl became the parents of Lori (Reed) Jensen, Richfield; Tammy (Richard) Hiromoto, Oak Hills, California; and Ronni (Mary) Jensen, Provo.
In 1978 Dick married Jeanne Laman. From this marriage Dick became dad to Lynn (Dave) Simmons, Yampa, Colorado; and together Dick and Jeanne became the parents of Lacy (Brad) Sharp, Richfield.
Dick leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Jeanne; six children and their spouses; 15 grandchildren, with another on the way; 26 great-grandchildren, with two on the way; sister, Judy (Trent) Sumner, Provo; and his mother-in-law, Iva Decker Laman, McCoy, Colorado.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack (Gladys) Jensen; father-in-law, Marvin Laman.
A Celebration of Dick’s Life will be held Saturday April 21, 2012 at 12:00 Noon in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, 50 South 100 West. Friends may call Friday at the mortuary from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 -11:30 am. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery with military rites by the V.F.W. Sevier Post #5050. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
