Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Devon C "Dee" Peterson, 88, passed away March 18, 2017 in Richfield. He was born February 21, 1929 in Glenwood to James Dancil and Cleo Idella Peterson.

Dee graduated in 1947 from Richfield High School, then enlisted in the US Navy in January 1948. He served 9 years during the Korean War. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Cleo Jean Siewert. They were married on April 7, 1954 in Alameda, California. The following year they were blessed with their only child, Susan.

After being discharged from the Navy, the family returned to Glenwood and shortly after settled in Richfield. Dee went to work for Georgia Pacific in Sigurd where he retired as a foreman after 34 years.

Dee was an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent all of his extra time either outdoors in the mountains or on his boat with his family and friends. He also loved working in his yard and took pride in having the best lawn on the block.

He is survived by his wife, Cleo; daughter, Susan (Dan) Hatch; grandchildren: Michael Wilbur, Kimberly (Jesse) Washburn; great-grandchildren: Kambree & Brogan Washburn; sisters: Burma Christiansen, Eunice (Rodney) Rasmussen, Verna Lee (Chad) Johnson; brother, Terry (Mary Ann) Peterson; sister-in-law, Shanna Peterson.

Preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Karma (Arnold) Smith, Betty (Jim) Bailey; brothers: Dallis (Saundra) Peterson, Leon Peterson; sister-in-law, Suzanne Peterson; brother-in-law, Que Christiansen; nephew, Mitchell (Ruth) Peterson; niece, Mitzi Rasmussen.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Richfield 15th Ward Chapel, 200 East Center. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and Monday at the ward chapel from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery with military honors by the V.F.W.
