DeVerl “Dee” Clark

Chester DeVerl “Dee” Clark, age 80, of Salina, died April 14, 2012 in Gunnison. Dee was born March 29, 1932, in Spanish Fork to Theo and Beulah Chadwick Clark. He served in the United States Navy in the late 1940’s. He married Joy Porter, later divorced. He married Maxine Ivie on March 19, 1968 in Elko, NV.
Dee came from a family of railroad workers, and worked for the D&RG Western Railroad. He retired after 38 years of service as a brakeman and a conductor. He enjoyed leather tooling, fly tying, fishing, hunting, woodworking and watching old cowboy movies. He was an avid BYU and Jazz fan and loved to watch tennis, following the career of his favorite player, Rodger Federer.
He is survived by his loving wife Maxine of Salina; children: DeAnn (Dan) Zebelean, Salt Lake City; Glenda Clark, Julesburg, CO; Robin Dee Clark, CO; and Carol (Randy) Howell, South Jordan; 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; sisters, Pat Shaw, Mesquite, NV; and Beulah May (Ray Don) Lazenby, Orem.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brett; daughter, Marie; grandson Justin; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby West and Theola Cazier.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 20, 2012, at 12 Noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the stake center in Salina and Friday from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery with military rites by the Salina American Legion Post #36 and the Utah Honor Guard.
