Derek Grant Cowley, 29, of Central Valley, passed away April 26, 2013 in Provo from complications of pneumonia. He was born July 12, 1983 in Richfield to Sidney Grant and Jami Christiansen Cowley.

Derek has worked in construction most of his life, he also worked at the local coal mine. He was currently ready to graduate from Snow College - Richfield in Diesel Mechanics.

His family was the love of his life, he enjoyed playing with his daughter and watching her grow. He and his buddies enjoyed their trips - trapping and shed hunting. He loved music, loved to sing and had a great voice. Gardening was a favorite pass time, his peas are already in.

His survivors include his wife, Jade Torgersen Cowley and daughter, Kimberlyn Ann Cowley, both of Central Valley; parents, Sid and Jami Cowley; sister, Katie Cowley all of Richfield; grandparents: Frankie and Stan Powell of Central Valley; Julieanne Cowley of Venice; Kenneth and Pat Christiansen of Kamas; great-grandmothers: Beverly Penney, Mary Powell, both of Richfield.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Kasey Lee Cowley; grandfathers, Clark Rogers and Tony Cowley; great-grandparents: John Penney, Kay Powell, Junius and Aretta Christiansen, Grant and Wanda Ogden, Charles and Leah Cowely.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, 50 South 100 West, where friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 and on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
