Delbert James Fry, 65, passed away November 7, 2012 after a short but valiant battle with cancer.
He was born May 21, 1947 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to John James and Beth Pearson Fry. The family moved to Richfield when Delbert was 4 years old. He married Virginia Shurtz of Escalante, in Richfield, on September 26, 1981, they were blessed with one son, James D. Fry, who was born September 23, 1982.
Delbert worked as a chef at Slice ‘em Thins Resturant in the old Johnston Hotel on Richfield’s main street for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish, trap, photograph and video the wildlife of Utah. He raised many animals including rabbits, chinchillas, and chickens. He loved to pan for gold and spent much of his time doing that and riding his ATV. In his younger years, he loved to spend time in the Uintah Basin with his grandpa Pearson.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He became active in the church later in life and fully embraced the Gospel, he was pleased to achieve his goal of receiving his endowment in the Manti Temple and being sealed to his parents. He loved his wife and his son, they are the center of his life.
Delbert is survived by his wife and son of Richfield; sisters, Carole Dumas of Pleasant Grove, Julie Winn of Kearns, Teresa Fry and Sheila (Greg) Fry-Higgins both of Richfield. He is preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, David Jeff Beck; grandparents and several other family members.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute for the care given to all of the family during Delbert’s last illness.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Richfield 15 th LDS Ward Chapel, 200 East Center. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 and at the ward chapel on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery.
