David Stevens

David Kenneth Stevens, passed away quietly while having his Sunday nap at 3:30 pm on April 17, 2016 at the Gables Assisted Living in North Logan. He was born April 25, 1925 in Mt. Carmel, Kane County, Utah to David Wyman Patten and Ruth Gifford Stevens. He was a long time resident of Sevier & Davis counties. He was 90 years old and lived a long and full life.
As a young farm boy David learned the qualities of life and hard work. He also had a lot of fun and told many stories about getting to be extra’s in the movies and many other fun times he had with his family and friends. On September 18, 1943 he enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Earle (DD635) and the USS Alecto (AGP-14) were he served 2 years, 6 months and 29 days in WWII. He met and married Arla V Bay on October 17, 1946 in Richfield Utah.
David was a very hard worker all of his life. He worked as a machinist and welder, part time reserve officer in Richfield, and later in his life he worked for the Utah Emergency Medical Training Council, cleaning and maintaining CPR manikins that were sent all over Utah to train high school students. He also loved to make and give handcrafted gifts for the enjoyment of many. He loved spending time with his family especially outdoors where he enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He made friends easily and was always willing to offer a helping hand.
David is survived by his wife of 70 years; son, Darwin Kregg Stevens (Barbara Weeks); daughters: Jolene (David) Huddleston and Suzanne Marie (Paul) Anderson; daughter-in-law, Cindi Werner; grandchildren: Rebecca Jolene (Spencer) Smith, Karina Marie Huddleston, Michelle Celeste Huddleston, Jamie Anderson, Trevor (Shanae) Anderson, Dannie (Bryan) Willardson; great-grandson, Carson; and great-granddaughters: Ellie and Xoe; sister, Meredith Cram.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Marlin Kenneth Stevens; son-in-law, Robert Brian Irsik; younger siblings: Annette Hardman, Melba Hoffer, Arda Clifford and Larry Stevens.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield, Utah, where friends may call after 12:00 Noon. Burial will be in the Richfield Cemetery with military rites by the V.F. W. Sevier Post #5050 and Navy Honor Guard. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
