David Merrill Sampson, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at home on March 30, 2013 at the age of 75. He was born December 24, 1937 in Richfield, Utah as the seventh child of Dewey and Crystal Sampson.
He served an LDS Mission 1958-1960 in the West Central States Mission. Dave graduated from BYU with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and later earned PE certification.
He married Kathleen McGarry Sept.5, 1968 in the Salt Lake Temple - they later divorced. He married Jane Bush Nov.2, 1996 in the Manti Temple.
He worked for SLC Corporation and the Air Logistics Center at HAFB. Dave's joys of his life were family; and his abiding love and testimony of the Savior, Jesus Christ. Dave spent many years of faithful service in the Jordan River and Manti Temples both as a patron and worker. He also served in the LDS Family History Centers and the Richfield Senior Center. He loved piano, choir gardening, horses, basketball, softball, deer hunting and fishing and spending time at Fish Lake with family. We will miss you dearly Dad until we meet again.
David is survived by his wife, Jane; children Dennis (Michelle), Janice (Russell); Daniel (Michelle); Jeff (Lindsy); six grandchildren and extended loving family.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Midvale Fort Union LDS Stake Center (540 E 7155 So). Friends may call to visit with the family on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State in Midvale and at the Stake Center on Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 10:45 prior to services. Interment will be in the Richfield City Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.. The family wishes to thank Vanessa Hargrove for her years of loving care and the Affinity Hospice staff. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Missionary Fund.
