David Muir Ogden, 76, passed away at his home on May 21, 2018. He was born August 19, 1941 in Richfield to Dan Muir and Elda Black Ogden. He married MerylLee Mahoney September 8, 1961 in the Manti Temple.
David was a member of the LDS Church and served in many positions, including bishop, stake executive secretary, and high counselor. In addition to his church callings, his life was filled with quiet service to others. He served faithfully for 25 years as a stake and ward missionary, as well as four missions. He had a sure knowledge of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and lived that testimony daily.
He earned a business degree from Stevens-Henager College and was a Certified Public Accountant. He owned and operated two businesses. He had his own private CPA practice and was a part owner of a family business, Dan M. Ogden and Sons Trucking.
David loved spending time in the outdoors. He enjoyed water skiing, boating, fishing and hiking. He took pleasure in exploring new trails while hiking and 4-wheeling in southern Utah. He enjoyed being surrounded by his family and included them in his many adventures. His children and grandchildren looked forward to summer boating trips on the Blue Lagoon houseboat at Lake Powell. They endured many of David and MerylLee’s "death marches," hiking for hours in the heat of the day at the lake. In his later years he and his wife enjoyed cycling and hiking around their cabin in the mountains near Alton, Utah.
David received a heart transplant and his family is eternally grateful to the medical team and donor, Jonathan, for giving them nearly 21 bonus years with him in this life. This gift enabled more precious time with his family, missions served, and all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren to know their grandfather.
He is survived by his wife and children: Tennys (Jeff) Bird, Mapleton; Kurt (Lisa) Ogden, Yarm, England; Kelli (Daren) Anderson, American Fork; Travis (Holly) Ogden, Queen Creek, AZ; Ross (Karen) Ogden, So. Jordan; 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; siblings: Norman (Karen) Ogden, Murray; LeAnn (Mike) Ford, So. Jordan. Preceded in death by siblings: Blake (Lois Jean) Ogden, Loraine Ogden and Mickle (Ranae) Ogden.
