David Newsome

1966-2014

David Claudius Newsome Jr., 48, passed away on November 29, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born October 22, 1966, the oldest son of Dave Sr. and Marcy Newsome.

Davy was a one of a kind man, who considered himself a gypsy adventurer, and claimed he was "born under a wanderin' star." After spending years raising his children as a single father, he traveled the country with his son and best friend, Caleb, making "home" wherever they were, including learning to sail on their sailboat in Ithaca, New York. Davy had the ability to make friends wherever he went, but wherever he was, his heart was with his family.

Davy married Manena Murdock, on June 2, 1989, and later divorced but remained close friends. During their marriage, they had 4 children, who Davy loved and cherished above all else.

Survived by his mom, Marcy; Children: David Newsome III, Jessica (Mark Reichert) Newsome; Shania (Justin) Hanson; Caleb Newsome; Siblings: Shawna (Keven) Harr; Russ (Tracey) Newsome; Jed (Melissa) Newsome; Sarah (Josh) Webb; Tommy (Carrie) Newsome. And many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. He was preceded in death by his dad, Dave Sr., sister Patricia and close friend Cheery "Mona" Love.
