The sun has set on the life of David Weldo Lay, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on July 29, 2019 at the age of 72 at his home in Annabella. Davy was born on July 21, 1947 in Annabella, Utah to Weldo and Vivian Alieth Leavitt Lay.

He grew up in Thompsonville and graduated high school at Piute High. He joined the Air Force when he turned 19 and served in the Vietnam war, stationed in Taiwan for two years and North Dakota for two years. He attended Dixie College, and Utah State University where he received his degree in Environmental Science. Dave had an unquenchable thirst for the mountains, and he dedicated his life to working for the USFS to maintain and protect the things that brought him joy.

He is survived by his wife, Holly Lyn Lay; his brothers: Harvey Lay, Darwin (Teresa) Lay; his sister, Connie (Don) Greenbaum; his six children: Jamie Carpenter, Elzie Lay, Natalie (Quinn) Davis, Dason (Marcie) Lay, Colten Lay, Cresston (Jamie) Lay; and his step-children: April (Alan) Raymond, Eddie (Stephanie) Edmunds, Noelle (Peter) Smith, Kaylyn (Chris) Hickman, Charlie (Jill) Edmunds. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Weldo and Vivian Lay.

Funeral services will held on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 12:00 Noon in the Marysvale Ward Chapel, 432 W Bullion Ave. Viewings will be held on Thursday, August 1, from 6:00-8:00 p.m at Magleby Mortuary, Richfield and prior to services on Friday from 10:00-11:30 a.m..
