David Jensen
Las Vegas, Nevada
My time on this earth has finally come to an end. On June 03, 2017, in Las Vegas, Nevada, I took my last breath, said "good-by" to my family and friends, and hopefully left this world a little better place than when I came into it.
I was born on April 6, 1950 to my Ephraim, Utah parents Jay & Connie Jensen. I was the eldest child but I was quickly followed by Jacqueline (deceased), James (Ephraim), Jed (deceased), Kurt (deceased), Judy Wheeler (Ephraim), Penny McInelly (Orem) and Janette Lyman (Ephraim).
I grew up in the small Utah town of Ephraim which was a great place to be a kid in the 50’s and 60’s. I helped my dad on his ranch and I played whatever backyard sport was in season.
In 1973 I married the beautiful Janet Roberts from Centerfield who was my best friend, teacher and right-hand for the rest of my life. We have four wonderful children: Jacie Willis, Christopher, Collin (all Las Vegas), and Holly Maltby (Sheffield, England). I am proud of all my children and what they have become. I also have three grandchildren.
I am also proud to be an alumnus of the University of Utah. I finally graduated in 1977 with a degree in accounting and accepted a position with a CPA firm in northern Nevada where I became certified as well. Shortly after that I moved my young family to Las Vegas and I’ve maintained a home there ever since even when living overseas for many years.
Early on in my professional career I was lucky to be in some high-powered positions in the casino industry in the Las Vegas area and met and worked with, or for, many top level entertainers and government officials, but my favorite position was my last: serving as the C.F.O. for several companies owned by two gentlemen who truly qualify as entrepreneurs and visionaries. Through this position I was to live in many exciting places such as Louisiana, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Northern Mariana Islands and Cambodia. I was able to travel all over the United States, the Caribbean, Japan, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia and Australia. I was also able to take many trips to Hawaii and recently spent six weeks traveling through nine countries in Europe.
I want to thank my childhood friends, my family, my business associates, my co-workers and others who have influenced me and shaped my life in any way. I enjoyed my life and I hope that I had a positive impact on many others.
In lieu of flowers, I would encourage any of you who would have spent anything on this to instead make a contribution to the autism charities F.E.A.T. or Autism Speaks.
Graveside services and interment will be held Monday, June 12, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gunnison, Utah, Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
