David Christensen
Richfield, Utah
On January 19, 2025, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, David Alten Christensen, surrounded by his family, returned peacefully to his heavenly home in Provo. He was courageous, long-suffering, and patient in his battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
Born May 6, 1953 in Richfield to Alten and Alta Wintch Christensen, Dave was the fifth of six children raised in their loving, happy home. Dave loved being raised in Richfield. He graduated from Richfield High School and later from Brigham Young University in Accounting. He spent his life building and serving so many in Richfield.
David married his eternal companion, sweetheart, and best friend, Kathy Nelson, on June 23, 1977 in the Provo Temple. Together they built a life of love, service, and fun. He wrote, “I enjoyed all things I did in my life. They were all my favorites.” He loved taking his family snow skiing, boating, to the beach, on ice cream outings, and spending time at home. He taught his children to work by his side in the yard, at home, and at Christensen’s. He and Kathy enjoyed going on walks, traveling, working in their yard, and listening to podcasts. He loved Christensen candy and working at Christensen’s, gardening, bright colors, and smiling.
Dave loves our Savior, Jesus Christ. He has a strong testimony of the restored gospel and was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a two-year mission in the Denmark Copenhagen Mission. He cherished his time as a missionary. That service, along with the foundation provided by his parents, prepared him for a lifetime of service that he loved. He loved serving in the church and served in many callings including primary teacher, young men's leader, bishop, stake president, and ministering. Dave genuinely loved everyone.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; and their children: Scott (Alison) Christensen, Herriman; Melissa (Cliff) Whatcott, Richfield; Jordan (Quincy) Christensen, St.George; Nathan (Rachel) Christensen, Salt Lake City; Jaquel (Ryan) Jones, San Francisco, CA; Annie Christensen, Seattle WA; and 16 grandchildren. Also his siblings: Evelyn (George) Johnson, Sunnyside, WA; Clark (Kassie) Christensen, St George; Camille (Hugo) Boren, Provo; Annette (Dean) Burgess, Sandy; and Alan (Debbie) Christensen, Richfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alten and Alta Christensen.
His children express their utmost gratitude to their mother for her faithful and unwavering love as she served as his caregiver for the past 15 years.
