DarRell "Dick" Payne, passed away May 11, 2015, at the age of 84, in Richfield, Utah. He was born September 19, 1930 in Monroe, Utah to Elwood and Myrle Hunt Payne. Married Joline Smith, July 13, 1954 in Monroe and later solemnized March 20, 1965 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Dick owned and operated Payne's Plumbing, co-owned Payne's Hardware, Payne's Chevron, operated Monroe Merc, cared for the Monroe City Cemetery, and was a dairy farmer. He served on the Monroe City Council, was a member of the Monroe volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Monroe Riding Club, helped with the Junior Riding Club, coached Bantam Basketball, and Little League Baseball. He was an avid hunter and camper. He loved to tell stories, sing, and never left a quaking aspen unmarred.
He is survived by his wife and children: Jody (Wayne) Mills, Perry (RaDawn) Payne, Lyla (Land) Clark, Pat (Keelie) Payne, Noelle (Mark) Smith, DarRell (Jolynn) Payne, Michael (Kristin) Payne, Maria (Justin) Sanders, Amanda (Ray) Woodward; 31 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; siblings: Tom (Merrily) Payne, Emelie (Ross) Christensen, Mike (UnSil) Payne, and sister-in-law Billie Payne.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Rona Naugle, Evon Payne, Cherril Ogden, Dona Parker, and Harry Payne.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Monroe Stake Center, 140 South Main. Friends may call Friday, from 6-8 pm at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield and Saturday from 9-10:30 am at the stake center in Monroe. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery.
