Darlene Talbot Orton

Ephraim, Utah

Our beautiful mother, Darlene Talbot Orton returned home to be reunited with her son and parents on the morning of January 18, 2014. She passed peacefully in her sleep and died of natural causes. She was born December 21, 1935, in Panguitch, Utah to Russell Hatch and Memphis Sudweeks Talbot. She was the second child of six.

She married Wilford Gary Orton of Panguitch. Together they had one son (deceased) and three daughters. They were later divorced.

Mother worked at Snow College for 30 years in the accounts payable department. She loved her job, but she loved the people she worked with so much more. They were a second family to her. After she retired, she found great joy in working at the Family History Center, doing genealogy for others and her family as well. Mom loved to crochet and do any kind of handy work and if you were lucky enough to receive something she made, you know just how beautiful her work was. She loved to share her work with others.

She was active in the Ephraim 2nd Ward and loved to attend the temple each Wednesday. She held many callings but her most precious calling was that of mother and grandmother. She was her grandchildren’s biggest fan at any event they were involved in. No matter what the weather, she was there to cheer them on!

She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. We know she had a joyous reunion with her parents and her infant son.

She is survived by her daughters, Wendy (Shon) Christofferson, Ephraim; Rhonda Montgomery, Woods Cross; Tracey (Russ) Newsome, Lehi; grandchildren: Tyson, Teancum, Marinda, Bobby, Kelsey, Ashly (Kaden) Kulland & Tyler. One great-grandson who was the light of her life, Jaxson. She is also survived by brothers and sisters: Grant (Vivian) Talbot, Centerville; Sheldon (Karen) Talbot, Cedar Hills; Ula John, Richfield; Dee (Jan) Talbot, Bountiful; and Virginia (Val) Hanney, Kaysville.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ephraim 2nd Ward Chapel, 450 North 200 West where friends may call Wednesday, January 22, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Ephraim Park Cemetery.
