Danny Nowers
Richfield, Utah
Daniel Leavitt Nowers, 58, our dear son, brother and father, passed away February 13, 2021 in Provo. He was born March 2, 1962 in Las Vegas, Nevada to John Robert and Laura Leavitt Nowers.
Danny had a happy childhood in Richfield where his family lived on a farm. He loved helping to raise and care for the cows, calves, pigs, horses, chickens, rabbits, parakeets and of course, his beloved dogs and cats. Because of his love and concern for animals, he had many favorite pets over the years; especially Buddy, his Springer Spaniel.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Danny talked simply and sincerely to his Heavenly Father and had a special gift of knowing just who and what to pray for.
A graduate from Richfield High School in 1981, Danny also graduated from seminary the same year.
Though Danny faced many challenges, he was much more than his learning deficits and health problems. He wanted his life to be as normal as possible. He had a desire to work and be independent and first became a paper boy. With his mother’s help, he woke up early to roll and deliver newspapers, a job he held for several years. He was a strong, hard worker and helped out around the house and yard whenever he could.
Danny was a conscientious worker too. In 1990, while working as a custodian at Farm Production Credit Association/Federal Land Bank, he had the opportunity to attend the Governor’s Golden Key Awards ceremony in Salt Lake City, receiving an Outstanding Citizen award, an employment award for people with disabilities. Other jobs through the years were at Deseret Industries, McDonalds, K-Mart and the Sevier County Sheriff’s office.
Danny married Angela Shiverdecker on June 7, 1997 in the Manti Temple. They have two wonderful children, Justin and Kimberly.
The family wishes to thank all who have been so kind to Danny and have gone out of their way to befriend and include him, and let him bless their lives, too. A special thanks to his care takers over the years, many of whom became special friends.
Also a special thanks to the physicians, nurses and hospital personnel for their skilled care.
He leaves many family members who are blessed to have had the honor of sharing this mortal journey with Danny. We all love you Danny, and are grateful for the things you taught us.
His words to his mom several days before passing were “see you later”. Yes, we will see you later, Danny.
Danny is survived by his wife and children: Justin and Kimberly; mother, Laura, Richfield; siblings: John (Debbie) Nowers, Richfield; Marilyn (J.D.) Porter, Holladay; Aimee (Paul) Ellis, Kaysville; Kenneth (Julie) Nowers, Fruit Heights; brother-in-law, John (Cori) Hicks, Central Valley; sister-in-law, Lisa (Scott) Carroll, Draper.
