Robert Daniel "Dan" Gibbens, 64, of Manti, passed away at his home on April 21, 2013. Dan was born June 15, 1948 in Tucson, Arizona to Burnett Bishop Gibbens and Lydia Merlene Neuman.

Dan enjoyed many different things in life. In his younger years he worked early mornings in a bakery and for a printing company. After an accident at the age of 17, Dan was inspired to became a paramedic. Dan helped start and mange a construction equipment rental company. He started his own construction company, raised pure bred bulls on a ranch in Arizona and then entered the restaurant business with his brother. With his wife, Dee he owned an operated a restaurant, a campground and a storage unit facility before settling in Sanpete Valley. Dan loved being a master gardener and visiting with his grandchildren and neighbors. He was a true connoisseur of life. He was a good man and was easy to love by all. He loved cooking for people and sharing joy. His motto in life "It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice."

Dan is survived by his sweetheart of 45 years, Dee Ann Whitehead Gibbens, children, Valerie J. Lake (Vern) Beal, Manti, James P. (Colleen) Lake, Beaverton, OR and Jason D. Gibbens, Manti. Dan is also survived by 13 Grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and his siblings; Margaret (Jerry) Livingston, Carl (Lenita) Gibbens, Jean (Dave) Gregory, Larry (Linda) Gibbens. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Clifford and son, Robert Daniel Gibbens Jr who passed away in 1970.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 10:30 a.m in the Manti City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
