Cort Durfey
Escalante, Utah
Our son and brother, Cort Michael Durfey, 20, returned to his Heavenly Father, June 15, 2017 due to injuries sustained in a tragic accident near Silverthorn, Colorado. He was born December 22, 1996 in Panguitch, the youngest of 5 children of Dirk and Eva Crosby Durfey.
Cort graduated from Escalante High School. He had a fire cracker personality that will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Cort loved and played baseball, basketball, cross-country, and high jump where he made friends throughout the state. He loved the outdoors and spent as many hours as possible hunting sheds. He earned his Eagle rank upon completing a project that restored the picnic area at Calf Creek Falls.
Cort loved life and lived every moment to the fullest. He was always on the go and left a wake of friends wherever he went. He had the uncanny ability of making anyone he met feel as if they were his best friend and would be for life.
Cort was loved by his siblings: Jerica (Robert), Keaton (Tannia), Clayte (deceased), and Kayson. He was a fun and energetic uncle to Clayce, Haven, Remmi, Liara, and Evi. His grandparents: Weldon and Marie Porter, Brent (deceased) and Shirley Durfey, and Bob and Karen (deceased) Crosby love and cherish the moments spent loving this young man.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 12:00 Noon in the Escalante Stake Center, where friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Escalante Cemetery.
