Corey Loftus

Elsinore, Utah

Corey Gleave Loftus, 38, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2019 in Richfield, Utah after a long and valiant battle with Ewing Sarcoma. Corey was born on October 11, 1980 in Richfield, Utah to Anthony LeRoy Loftus and Mavanee Gleave Loftus. He was raised in Monroe, Utah and graduated from South Sevier High School. He graduated from Snow College with a degree in Criminal Justice.

Corey married the love of his life, Emily Huntsman on March 1, 2008 in the Las Vegas, Nevada Temple. They made their home in Elsinore. They were blessed with a little miracle when their daughter, Talia, was born in December 2008. Corey’s heart melted and was the very best stay-at-home dad. Talia is a true daddy’s girl and loved each minute that they spent together.

Corey was the chief of the Elsinore Volunteer Fire Department from 2015 until the time of his passing. He served on the Sevier County Hazmat team. He deeply loved his fire department and hazmat brothers. Corey loved to spend time in the mountains, camping, trapping, fishing, hunting, but most importantly cutting fire wood. He looked for any opportunity to run his chainsaw.

Corey battled Ewing Sarcoma for over 10 years and had multiple surgeries, but he never complained. He made everyone laugh and had a unique sense of humor. He was a hero to many but most of all to his wife and daughter. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Corey served in the Knoxville, Tennessee area on a 2-year mission. He served in several callings with the youth, which was perfect for him because he was a child at heart.

Corey is survived by his wife, Emily; daughter, Talia Estelle Loftus; father and other mother, LeRoy & Marilyn Loftus; siblings: Trina (James) Blackburn, Tony (Jezabel) Hansen, Tiffany Taggart, and Michael Nielson. He is also survived by Emily’s family whom Corey considered his own; parents, Grant Lynn and Beverly Huntsman; siblings: Ariane (Dion) Gardner, Brooklynn (Katy) Huntsman, Kinsey (Alex) Gonzales, Chanae (Nick) Fischer, Oliver Huntsman, and Ted (Aubrie) Huntsman; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mavanee.
