     Cordell Pearson, age 79, died peacefully at his home in Circleville surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 20,2024. He was born on December 15, 1944 to Freeman and Mary Angell Pearson in Junction. 
     Cordell grew up in Junction where he graduated from Piute High School, he excelled in athletics and track. 
     Cordell married his sweetheart Kathy Brinkerhoff on July 2, 1964. They were later sealed in the St. George Temple. Together they raised two wonderful sons, who are the light of his life. Cordell touched every life that he encountered, it’s hard to find a person that does not have a story about how he affected their lives.  
      Cordell started his law enforcement career in Las Vegas, Nevada where he advanced to the position of detective. He was assigned to various units including intelligence, vice and narcotics. He excelled and was assigned to the joint drug task force where he received a medal of valor for infiltrating a Cuban cartel, being honored by President George W. Bush. He continued his law enforcement career by being elected as Sheriff of Piute County. He also became the commander of the Central Utah Narcotics Task force, after leaving the task force he became a judge in a neighboring county. Towards the end of his career he became the mayor of Circleville. Cordell was the epitome of civil service for the United States of America.  
      Cordell was a mentor and coach for many youth throughout Nevada and Utah. Cordell loved Piute County; he was on the fair board for over 30 yrs. He was very involved in Piute County where he started the annual Piute County rodeo. He spent countless hours making the two day rodeo a family tradition and major success. 
      Cordell was very active in shooting, an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. His favorite place was his cabin on the Beaver Mountain. For as long as the NFR has been in Las Vegas, Cordell and Kathy have never missed a single performance.  
     He was known to all as a family man, he loved his wife, Kathy, and his family and friends with all his heart. He was especially fond of his grandchildren and the three great-grandchildren born this past year.  
      He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his sons: Allen (Barbie) Pearson, Monroe; Troy (Kris Ann) Pearson, Veyo; grandchildren: Cordell Pearson, Karlie (Cooper) Larsen, Kiersten (Carson) Hopp, Mclayne (Kody) Hutchings; great-grandchildren: Callie Jo Larsen, Tilly Lynn Hutchings, Emersyn Jade Hopp; brother, Greg (Taunya) Pearson; sister, Kay (John) Jensen; He is preceded in death by his parents.
      Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 in the Circleville Ward Chapel at 12:00 Noon. Viewings will be held Friday night in the church from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and Saturday morning from 10:00-11:30 am . Burial will be in the Circleville Cemetery with Last Call and Honors by the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard. Live streaming available through www.maglebymortuary.com.
