Our beloved son, brother, uncle and friend Clark Burnell DeLong age, 69, passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of January 06, 2013 following surgery.
Clark was born in Richfield, Utah on December 20, 1943 to Clark E. DeLong and Lula Von Torgerson. He was the second child and oldest son of five children. He graduated from Grand County High School in 1963. He became a barber and worked in Salt Lake City and Ogden in the early 1960’s. Following his fathers foot steps Clark became a member of Operating Engineers Local 3 and worked for 35 years as an oiler on a crane. He was proud to have worked on many important projects over the years and especially loved the years he spent in California.
Muscle cars, collecting knives, going to the movies, and his little house in Kearns, were all things that Clark loved. But above all he loved to read and study LDS gospel doctrine and church history. He immersed himself in the teachings of LDS authors and scholars, especially the publications of Hugh W. Nibley. His knowledge of gospel doctrine was vast and he enjoyed discussions with similar Mormon scholars.
Clark endured many hardships and overcame much adversity throughout his life, all without self-pity or bitterness. He never held a grudge and always looked on the "bright side" of life. He leaves a legacy of love, humor, and forgiveness. He endured to the end with steadfast faith in the Savior. We will miss his arm around our shoulder, neck rubs and unconditional love.
He is survived by his mother, Lula DeLong, of Moab; Sisters: Carma Moore, Kaysville; and Olivia Bohn (Douglas), Moab; Niece, Shelly Montrone (Bruce), of Kaysville; Nephews: Benjamin Moore, Luke Moore, of Salt Lake City, and Samuel Moore, of Columbia, MD; beloved great nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by father, infant sister Connie and brother Garth.
